GREEN EYE
You gave me a cardboard box
Inside it was a moth
It’s charred amethyst wings were full of holes
It was meant to scare
But when I saw it there
Realisation struck my darkening soul

My brother was your lover
My mother was my mother
But all you ever did was see me through
Your Green Eye

I didn’t want to see
What was right in front of me
My trust and friendship easily betrayed
The river it grew wide
You planted on the other side
Now you reap the seeds you grew in the bed you made

My brother was your lover
My mother was my mother
But all you ever did was see me through
Your Green Eye

With my two eyes opened wide
I saw what you couldn’t hide
Reflecting coldly, harshly back at me
Through your Green Eye

I loved you my friend
But you met you bitter end
When your crafty sly wiles got the best of you
It’s time to let you go
And there’s something you should know
That moth’s lace wings only veiled the truth

My brother was your lover
My mother was your mother
But all you ever did was see me through
Your Green Eye
My brother was your lover
My mother was your mother
But all you ever did was see me through
Your Green Eye
